Two full days of Scrapbooking!

Well, Hello There!! It's me----d.c.!!! Do you all remember me?? I hope so! Sorry I have been gone so long. I took a blogging hiatus which was only planned to last a short time. For a couple of reasons, I have had to extend it and for that I apologize dearly! Our gal Steff just doesn't have the time to blog so our little Attic page has been sorely in need of some updates, wouldn't you agree? When I talked to Steff on Saturday we wondered if between all of our hectic schedules, do we even need to blog? Steff is BRILLIANT at updating fb (and if you are like me that is where I spend the majority of my cyber time!)...is that enough? Do you feel in the loop and taken care of that way? We would LOVE to hear your feedback here or on fb. The blog is MUCHO time consuming. In a perfect world we would have daily posts but as I'm sure you understand we just can't do it! If we have enough of you out there that want to keep reading the Attic blog, we will do our best to keep updatin'! If not we may just take a break from it all together! You help us decide!
In the mean time, do I have a post for you?!?! How many of you out there have heard about, thought about taking, or have taken Alicia's organizational class? Welllll, let me tell ya. I have taken the class before, a few years back. And when I found out she had agreed to do another round of classes I JUMPED on the chance to spend the day with her again! Not only did I meet some great new scrapbooking friends that first time, I got to sit all day with my stuff and just go though and PURGE. Ahhhh, it feels so good! Not only that, I felt SUPER motivated to keep the ball rolling and get everything in order. I have 3 weekend crops in a row (LUCKY ME!!) coming up so what even better reason to get all my SCHTUFF together!

In the class description it says to "Bring Everything" and that I did!! We stuffed it all into Alicia's car at that! And when she looked at me like I was out of my mind for bringing so much I just reminded her that she wanted us to bring EVERYTHING!!

Now, I did leave a few things at home. I actually have a couple of things (like my big rolling tote and my CITA kit bag) that I feel okay about. I know I didn't want to waste valuable time MESSIN' with it so I left it at home. This is a picture of my space at the beginning of the day:

We started the day with tools... Alicia gives a tutorial (with handouts) of ideas for each phase of the process and then she lets you have at it, asking any questions you have along the way and offering great tips and advice to get your stuff-o-la in order.

This is my tool bag before:

Alicia and the girls at the Attic always give me a hard time about it...they think it looks like my tool bag is "BARFING" scrapbook supplies!! And I would have to agree!! First, I took out several items that I do not use on an every page basis. Second, I purchased an adorable hot pink vinal bag that I had been eyeing for awile to put my punches and scissors in.

That freed up some SERIOUS space for me and I was able to put all of my pens in my orignal bag as well!

We then moved on to paper where I spent the majority of the rest of my day. Let me tell you though, this was BY CHOICE! I have TONS (as I am sure we all do) of paper and I felt like between that and my pictures is where I needed the most work. That is the brilliance behind this class, during each 1.5-2 hour session she gives you each tutorial-then you are free to be. You can move on to the next phase if you feel satified with your progress there (like I did with my tool bag) OR you can go back to what you were working on before.

This was my table mate Rachel. (she actually had her own table across from mine) We spent the day bouncing ideas off of each other, sharing organizational items, and just keeping each other company throughout the process (oh and talking each other into "must have" organizational purchases. Isn't that what scrapbooking friends are for!?!?!). Thanks Rachel-it was fun getting to know you! I look forward to cropping with you! Go Pokes!

And then there is me.... eyeball deep in my stuff, having a ball sorting and hanging out!

Literally...as you can see, I am expecting AGAIN! You may remember that just over a year ago I had a baby girl named Paisley. Well, we are back in business and expecting baby #5 in early April. HE, yes HE, is much anticipated as you can imagine, by his daddy and mommy and FOUR older sisters!

Add my new little guy to the list of reasons I have been a blog slacker in the last months!! :)

I have felt sooo motivated by Alicia's class that I went home and kept on truckin'! I sorted all of my pictures last night and will finish them tonight. I am so excited to have all of my pictures in one place and know exactly what I have to work on!

The class is from 9-5, be on time, you will use EVERY minute!! (The girls had coffee, donuts and pastries for us on Saturday! YUM! Thanks girls!) The cost is $35 which includes lunch, chocolate :), a package of Cropper Hopper page kit planners, Alicia's instruction, step by step checklists and printed tutorials, a 15% discount on all organizational products purchased that day, and 30-45 minutes of one-on-one time with the organizational guru Alicia!!

I wanted to pass along this letter that went out to those that registered for the Love, Chloe crop that was scheduled for this upcoming weekend.

We are sorry to inform you that the Love, Chloe VIP crop for Wichita has been cancelled. The response for this event was not what we had hoped for and so we will be rescheduling it for Spring or Summer of 2011. We hope that you will be able to join us then. We will keep you informed of all the details as they become available. Please note that we will be having our 3rd annual Love, Chloe Crop in Salina in early 2011. We will keep you informed of those details as well.

Wednesday Sketch Challenge UPDATE!!!!

Okay - so you might have read on Facebook already....but for those of you that don't "do" facebook....i wanted to update ya'll on the new LOWDOWN on the Wednesday Sketch Challenge!!

Since so many of you have said that you LOVE the sketches and all that jazz, but you just can't make every single week....we wanted to make it a little easier on you (and us too!)....to be involved!! We're going to start putting all the entires that are submitted into a "jar" each week.....then at the end of the MONTH we'll draw ONE winner from the MONTH!! If you are doing the challenges WEEKLY this, obviously, will increase your chances of winning...yet at the same time (hopefully) entice SOME of you to participate once a MONTH, at least.....which was more than you MAY have already even considered attempting?!?!

Sooooo, come on !!! JOIN IN!!! You won't be SORRY!!! PROMISE!!!

FIRST Annual LOVE CHLOE Crop'n Roll "Backstage Pass~VIP" event!!!

We're SOOO excited (and nervous, anxious, giddy, passionate!) about this FRIDAY!!!! We are helping to host the FIRST ANNUAL EVENT to raise money for a VERY VERY VERY worthy cause!!!! What better way to spend a friday/saturday in November, than cropping with your girlfriends in an intimate, plush hotel - all the while raising money for a fabulous charity.....?!?! We've got some fahhhhbulous things lined up for the lucky THIRTY croppers that attend the event!!! Yep - you read that right - 3-0!! I meant it when I said "intimate"!!! It's going to be great!! You're going to have loads of cropping space.....some fabulous VIP treatment and you're going to feel WONDERFUL, knowing that you're helping a wonderful cause!!!

The Love Chloe Foundation is looking to raise money to fund their "Monkey in my Chair" program!!! You can read ALL about it by clicking HERE and checking out their website.....but the "gist" of it is this...the "Monkey KIT"....is supplied FREE to families that have a child that has been diagnosed with cancer. It's to be used as a "coping" tool...not only for the child with cancer, but it can also be used in the childs classroom while they are not able to be. It can be used to help the childs classmates cope as well. The monkey can be left in the chair - holding the childs place while gone - allowing the other children to have someTHING to look at (instead of an empty chair)....they can take the monkey back and forth to gym, lunch, music, art, etc.....they can take JUST the backpack.....leave notes in the backpack for the sick child to read. It also has a disposable camera inside the backpack....a note book, and some other fun items that can be used to help all the kids "cope" with the illness.

Sooooooo, take a look at their site.....and make the decision to help out!!!! Be a part of something AMAZiNG!!!! (from the beginning!!!).....how cool is it going to be to start something from the VERY FIRST EVENT...and look back 10 years from now and say "I was a part of something AMAZING!!!"

Ganza Thank you's Recap!

Man oh MAN!.....i have been MEANING to get on here and update ya'll on how, what, where, when, why, how come, etc. all the happening's around here...and LIFE just keeps gettin' in the way!! KWIM!?!? Anyone else feel like they've been in a FAST FORWARD movement for about the last 6 months?!?!?!? I'm ready to SLOW down a tad bit!!!

I'm gonna just give ya'll a quick "overview" of the Ganza MADNESS that occurs!! THIS time, we had more "setbacks, bumps, and curve balls" before we even OPENED the crop room for croppers!! BUT...we pulled through!! Thank the LORD for answered prayers and special HELPERS sent just at the right time!! ; )

This is a final shot of the crop room (2am, to be exact!)....hubby finished up the cords and took the kiddos HOME to bed!! WHEW...it was a LONG night!

Something that was VERY much a POSITIVE change....9:00am OPEN time!! Here's the crop room, not even 9:30am yet!! It was AWESOME!!

We debuted the Sisterhood of Scrapbooking Apparel!! It was VERY well received!!! (notice MAX in the corner,,,,catchin' his breath between trips in and out of the heat!)

The hospitality room is STOCKED up and ready to go!! (we DID make note of MORE diet mt. dew, diet coke and diet dp...next ganza!)

The Centerpiece Contest was a HUGE success!! SERIOUSLY, we were BLOWN away with all the participants!! You guys NEVER CEASE to amaze me!! It makes it SO MUCH *MORE* FUN when everyone else "gets" it too!!! (these were just a few of the tables that kate got photographed from the weekend!)

The winner winner chicken dinner of the Centerpiece Contest (judged NOT by me!! hee hee!!)...."Beyonce's Group"!! They really get into the ganza themes each event, and come up with a lot of the ideas that we implement as well, so it was nice to see them WEINNNNNERS!!

Teri made us these fancy schmancy "singing angel" head bands!! And we wear them DAILY, Teri! ;) This was mom's "first" all weekend ganza event!! I think she did purdy darn good!!! Didn't complain TOOOO much! : ) She is usually holdin' down the store front all weekend and out to help out at ganza in the evening!! But with SARAH (my lil sister!)...unable to be my sidekick - mom stepped in!! And it worked out VERY WELL!! I was pleasantly surprised!!

I started to upload all the pics from the event, but noticed that DC and Lindsay had already posted videos, updates and pictures for you!! I'll put the pics that i took on our facebook fan page for you to see...they are pretty much along the same "lines" as hers!!

For those of you who attended Crop*A*Ganza this time, THANK YOU for an AWESOME weekend!! We really did have a great time!! Very little "hiccups" along the way!! We're getting better and better at this every time!! I have taken up the "issues" that we did have, with the hotel.....so we'll see what happens from that!!

Each Ganza, we always have a little "pow wow" afterwards, recapping the weekend, things NOT to do next time, things to DEFINITELY do next time, etc....something that was VERY well received this past event, were the group photo shots!!! If you've been attending ganza since the first event (and we know that there are quite a few of you that have been to EVERY SINGLE ONE!!), then you MIGHT remember the Group Photo NIGHTMARE that would happen!! Not everyone wanted to be a part of it....some would HIDE.....some would POUT.....and then there was KATE who would sing "the song that never ends"...ugh that was a NIGHTMARE in itself!!! : ) Welllllll, i-personally, am NOT a fan of group photos when i attend crops...i know, i know, it's just a picture...it's only 15 minutes out of my life...whats the big deal!??! Wellll, when i'm scrapbookin' - i don't wanna be interrupted!! THERE, i said it!!! As selfish as that sounds...i just don't!! So about 6 ganza's ago, we got "rid" of the group photo!! It was VERY WELL RECEIVED!! Of course there were still a few moans and groans, about not having a photo of the group to document each event......SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, this time....we had quite a few of these guitar sunglasses for "Decor"....i thought it would be a FANTASTIC idea to take them around to each table, and get group shots of the CROPPERS~as THEIR own group!!!!!!! I know, i know - GENIUS idea!!! SOOOOO, Kate and Dawn took the camera, glasses and their CHIPPER personalities and headed out to "work the room"!!! I edited each group shot (as best as i could with the lighting that we are blessed with at ganza!), and then sent them out to the "groups" in an email - thanking you for coming and hanging out with us!!! I hope everyone got theirs...if you didn't, just lmk!!

I know that there were quite a few groups that didn't get pictures taken.....i apologize if you weren't all together when the girls came around, and we missed you......we've made a note of that and will do that again in February - but LET YOU KNOW ahead of time a TIME frame that we'll be doing that - so you can plan for that as well!!!!! Here are just a few of the fun group shots that we took!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how happy everyone is!!! You can tell they are really having a good time....and that's what it's allll about right?!?!

A few "extra" thank you'sSOOO much for all your help with the games and activities!! I know that Kate LOVED having you as her side kick, and i KNOW that the croppers LOVED having some fun new games to play as well!! Max!! It was AWESOME having a strong young man to help us "hoarders" of scrapbooking supplies, unload our cars!! ESPECIALLY with the heat, it made it SUPER nice to not have to make 25 trips to and from our cars with all of our supplies!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for assisting our croppers with unloading AND packing up on Sunday!! We hope you come back and join us in February!!! Sharon/Theresa/Shannon/Lindsay/Missy/Dawn - thank you thank you thank you thank you!! Words canNOT express how much we appreciatED your help with setting up and/or tearing down for the weekend event!! SINCERELY,,,,, we had quite a few set backs this time (before the event even BEGAN!), so the extra UNEXPECTED help was amazing!! Thank you SO much - THANK YOU!!!!!

Lastly - here's our FANTABULOUS *emcee* ... the amazing, insane, one and ONLY KrrrrrrAZIE KatIE the scrapbook LADY!! (of the night..!!) there really IS only one KATE!! We are SO blessed, and LUCKY to have you in our lives Kate!! REALLY!! you make things SO much easier during Ganza for us!! We can focus on what WE do best....and YOU can focus on what YOU do best!! THANK YOU!! Ganza would NOT be what it is without YOU!!!!

Things can get a little CrrAAzzzyyyyy on the LAST day of ganza!!!! *we love you momma*!!

AND NO GANZA weekend is complete without SOME form of physical activity..................we didn't have the "scrap Olympics" this year....but Chollet came through with cartwheels instead!!!

Well, we've already had a TEENY bit of excitement this morning. My camera is not fancy by any means and it does take pictures a little dark sometimes but the pics above were taken when the electricity in the crop room went out for about two minutes!! I wasn't worried and ready to keep pluggin away in the dark!!

Hey Ladies! It's L. Fox, well I guess L. Hall now, and I am breaking in to the blog while DC is away getting her pedicure. (hehehe don't tell!) ;);) We are having a BLAST here already! I am so PUMPED that we were able to get here at 9AM this time! Just wanted to let you know that there are still some openings if you are interested in getting a pedi. The pedicure girls are Shondelle Smith & Stacie Charvat. You can get the full one hour treatment for $30 til midnight tonight or from 9am-midnight on Saturday. You don't have to be at CAG to get your toenails DID! :) Here's a few pics of DC getting her pedicure and a little R&R:

For whatever reason, I started with Christmas! Usually I work most current and go back from there. But today I pulled out fthe December CITA kit and am going to get Christmas knocked out today!!

CAG February 2010 Revisited!!!

Are you as pumped as we are???? It's almost here...time to start packing and planning pages. I know my group is SUPER excited to be cropping together again at the BEST event of the year (and we are sooo fortunate that it happens twice a year!)

Steff and I thought it would be a GREAT time to re-post the videos from CAG! For you loyal Ganza goers we hope this gets you AMPED up to crop and relax with friends. And for all of you NEWBIES out there (and Steff says we have quite a few this time) these videos are a GREAT way to get a tiny taste of what is in store for ya!!

Remember the videos are PRETTY all over the place (our first time behind the camera) so forgive that...and know that l.fox and I WILL be back again this year for more, new, and improved videos!! So get excited!!

Now about the videos.... do you REALIZE how lucky we are??? I hear all of the time from comments on my YouTube videos from women who say the wish they had a place like Scrapfunattic to shop and an event like CAG to attend! I have 112 subscribers to my YouTube page and almost 10,000 views of our little videos!! Just since January!! It is exciting! Our little Attic family is growing online and we love that! Organizing My Albums

I had NEVER liked the way my albums were organized. No labels, not always in order, not complete. So I was constantly looking and thinking about ways to solve that problem. I was creating TONS of beautiful pages and then waiting weeks or months to get them into my books and onto the shelves. Problem #2 was that with the 4 girl's, family, Christmas, and vacation albums, I had SOME idea of which was which but often we found ourselves pulling out albums at random...sort of potluck!!! So last summer I had seen Steff's take on album labeling and I thought it was FANTASTIC and super adorable!! She had tied a piece of ribbon around the spine and attached a card stock label to it with the name of her son and the year of that album! So I decided right then it was something I wanted to do. For our next crop at the attic, I took NO crop stuff...okay well I took some cause I of course thought I could tackle this project in no time and have TONS of extra time to get like 50 pages done!! heehee!! Little did I know that this project would take me ALL day but the results would be wonderful.

For my labels I chose basic white cardstock and a 2 inch circle punch. I wrote the name or theme of the album on it along with the year. You could also use a label maker or computer for this. I then punched two SMALL holes in the circle at the top and bottom. I used a 1/8th inch circle punch for this (think MINI hole puncher). You could use a regular whole punch or Crop-A-Dile as well. I really wanted to keep those holes on the small side. I then took a yard of ribbon or tulle or BOTH in a pattern that matched the album, theme, or taste of the person, threaded it through my label and tied it around the spine of that album. Some times making big fluffy bows, simple knots, or I hid the knots on the inside of the album. It just depended on how it looked with the type of ribbon I used. I even dangled charms from some of the bows!!

The pictures don't do this a ton of justice but TRUST me they look really CUTE!!! You can see the big tulle bow but also look at the green album. Its a family one...a very simple line, knot tied to the inside with that awesome chenille ribbon. Since I have four girls it's usually the bigger the bow the better!!!

I of course baby Paisley got paisley ribbon and tulle on her book!!!

AND I decided to rotate an album on display. I need to get a stand to put it on! It is funny...I don't know why it took me so long to set one of the albums out. Probably because of the little hands, but now that I have found a fairly safe spot it is getting looked at so much!!

Happy Happy Wednesday!! I have to tell ya......i am enjoying "prepping" for these challenges!! It gets my mind racing, ideas flowin', gets me all giddy for scrappin'!! I only wish that i would TAKE THE TIME TO follow THRU and DO THEM!! Does this sound like you!?!? aahhh-huh!!! im a MIND READER! :)

I know, I know - i'm JUST as bad as ya'll are out there......the MORE you TELL yourself you don't have time.....the LESS TIME YOU HAVE!!! I have found that "crafting" (in general) - for me anyway - is a lot like exercise.......i'm a LOT less stressed, my mind is more clear and i'm not "AS" high strung, if i can release some creative JUICES!!! Soooo, here's your prescription......it'll make you feel LOADS better...i PROMISE! :)

WOW!! where has the summer gone?!?! CRAZY......how FAST it went and how HOT it's been, right?!?! UGH!! With all the "indoor" time that's been going on, we have actually had the chance to scrapbook MUCH more this summer, than in summers past!!! With that - comes some FANTASTIC new kit wall kits that the girls have designed!!! AND, our newest "trial" idea.....CARD kits!! Laura has decided to give this a "whirl"!! She's designed four cards and we're selling them in one kit!! Check that out next time you're in!! They are SUPER cute, if i do say so!! Here are some "sneaks" of the kits that we have now!!

The girls (kristy, renee and laura!) have pulled out all the stops (i've always wanted to say that....sounds kinda like a used car commercial doesn't it!!) with these kits!! Attic Wednesday Sketch Challenge #21

Have you ever done a Round "Map"...or sketch?? Don't be thrown off by it's "roundness".....ha! that would make a GREAT hallmark card wouldn't it! :) :) Anyway, back to the subject at hand....the Wednesday Sketch Challenge.....i like to mix things up a bit every once in awhile.....but if you're not into the ROUND of it all....take that away - or layer it with a large ROUND background on top of your cardstock!! Thing OUTSIDE the traditional CIRCLE! :)

This sketch comes from Page Maps....and your WORDS of wisdom: "Somewhere in the middle of our everyday world, you have made my life EXTRAordinary!"...i love this!! (scrapbook.com) I love reading something like that statement and having the PERFECT picture, or subject, or occassion come to mind and it all comes together!! Hope these wednesday challenges are doing "somethin' " like that for you!!

The first Saturday in June (our SuperScrappinSaturday!) we had a FREE make n take using these GREAT COPIC markers!!! This was kind of a "trial" test to see what kind of interest was out there from ya'll!!! It was VERY well received!! We completed the MOST make & takes EVER...a HUGE thank you to Angie for "slavin' " away all day doing those!!!

THEN....last month we held 2 COPIC CURIOSITIES classes, giving you even MORE information and knowledge using your COPIC markers!!

this is a sneak of the card you'll be working on for the AUGUST meeting!

NOW....we are going to be holding a MONTHLY Attic Copic Club Meeting!!! Here's the "411" on this fabulous class!!

*The enrollment period is for 6 months and the group will meet once a month

* Your credit card will automatically be charged the $25.00 meeting fee each month. (if you prefer to pay cash, your class fee must be paid a month in advance.)

*Each meeting, you will get TWO (2) Copic SKETCH Markers, a Stamp and Supplies to make a card..alllll with the assistance and knowledge of the fabulous Angie Lentz (!), our Certified Copic Instructor!! At each meeting, we will learn a new technique using the Copic Markers or other Scrapbooking tools, and the opportunity to share ideas with each other.

*The TWO (2) markers will be PREdetermined by the instructor. If you find at the meeting that you already have one or both of the colors, to be used in the meeting, you may trade the color for any we have IN STOCK at the time.

Attic Kit Club Sneakie Poo!! :)

We've had an overwhelming response to our monthly kits....it's been AWESOME to see the excitement of all of our subscribers and all the fun that they're having with the kit each month! (and SO are WE!!).....we do make EXTRA kits, for those of you that might want to just "try" it out before you dive in to a subscription!! AND - you can ALWAYS PRE-order the next month, by calling or emailing the store and we'll reserve an extra one for ya!!!

Sooo, because i actually have some *extra* time on my hands this month, i thought i'd give you a little sampling of the August kit!! I can't guarantee i'll be able to do this each month (it's a time thang, ya know!!)....so i hope you ENJOY!!! Each month we include a 2 page 12x12 COLOR copied insert in your kit!! This insert looks something like this....

We include all the layouts that WE have created/designed using the same kit, for your reference, inspiration or just for viewing pleasure!!! We don't give step by step instructions for each layout, giving you the freedom to make it your own...but we DO give you a tip or technique for each layout! Sometimes even just a little somethin' that we learned using a new tool or trial and error!!

Each monthly kit varies in variety!! There's always *at least* 2 alphabets, dimensional and flat embellishments. We always complete AT LEAST 8 12x12 layouts. The past three months we have accomplished FOURTEEN layouts!! That's prettttty darn cool, if you ask me!! All of these great layouts in ONE bag!! The ONLY thing that is NOT included in our Monthly Kit is the cardstock that we use to complete the layouts. We offer it separately as an "add on"....allowing you to choose from your OWN cardstock selection OR purchasing all of ours in one pkg!! PLUS, we try to work a month AHEAD....allowing you to "plan" for your holiday/seasonal pictures!!! So, for example, we did some patriotic/4th of July related paper and bellies in June!

We have quite a few subscribers that save all their kits for a weekend crop!! This way, they don't have to THINK about matching paper with cardstock and embellishments - you can just grab your kits & pictures - throw them in your tool bag and you're set to accomplish GREATNESS!! :)

Here are a few "sneaks" from the AUGUST kit....i can't show you too too much, because that's one of the perks of being a subscriber, ya know!! ; )

And here are a FEW of the items that are included inside the AUGUST kit! Our "theme" (if you will) was Birthdays....we're celebrating our FIRST year as a kit club!! :) YEAH!! But, as you can see from a few of the layouts that we completed....the product that we chose does not FORCE itself to be Birthday themed! (and this is the same for all of our kits!!)

OKay...so hopefully this will give you a little "peak" into a sampling of whats in our monthly kit club!! We do make "extra" kits for those that like to take a chance each month!! A NEW crop coming to OUR area!!

As i'm posting this, i know that i don't have a LOT of information to give you YET, but wanted you to SAVE the date anyway!!!

i, WE...are SOOOO excited to be ASSISTING in something that is going to be SO AWeSOmE!!!! If you've been to any of our Crop*A*Ganza events, you know how much we LOVE to bring your FABULOUS large crops!! And we've listened to your comments and suggestions about offering MORE crops in the Wichita area!!!.....So, we were OVER JOYED when our friends with the Love Chloe Foundation came to us asking for advice and HELP with a crop that they would like to bring to our area!!!!

(this is chloe, by the way!)

Michelle and her team have had two large crops in the Salina area and would like to take their crop on the road!! They are hoping to start with Wichita, and where they'll go from there.......only the CROPPERS know!!!! I *steff* first heard about this foundation when they contacted Scrap*Funattic for a donation for their event last year. I was SO touched and MOVED by this story that i had this enormous DESIRE to do MORE to help them!! When Michelle came to Andover to pick up the donation that we were giving to their event, we got to chattin' and before you knew it, we were making plans to try and hold an event here in Wichita!!!!!

You can check out their website and learn ALLLL about Chloe, and the Monkey in my Chair Program....i'm gonna warn you though...it pulls on your heartstrings, especially because of the children!!!

Soooo, like i said earlier - i don't have ALLLL the important information for you YET - we are scheduled to meet in the next few weeks and get all of those details ironed out, but we are SOO excited to be ASSISTING them with their NEW journey!!!!

Here's what i DO KNOW:

there will be a CROP!!!

The dates are November 5-6.

The event will be held at the Homewood Suites in NorthEast Wichita.

not sure if any of you are like this, but i normally don't READ forwards that are sent to me, nor do i forward them on......not that i don't WANT to read them all, but time doesn't allow me to anymore. So, when i opened our email this morning and saw this, my first reaction was to delete....(i don't have time, i thought to myself....have tooooo many UNread's in my email box!!!)...but for SOME reason (and i'm CERTAIN as to WHO that some reason might be!)...i read it....i wanted to share it here with all of you this morning....thought it was the PERFECT time!! We have LOTS of ladies who shop in our store, that we have built personal relationships with, and have got to know them and their families....lots of them have husbands, sons/daughters/son in laws/daughter in laws, brothers/sisters (inlaws), grandsons/granddaughters, cousins that are over there fighting for US........ Take a minute.....not asking you to "pass it on"...just read it, and maybe even say a prayer!!

The Sack Lunches

I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat. It was going to be a long flight. 'I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought.

Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to start a conversation.

'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me. 'Petawawa. We'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're being deployed to Afghanistan.

After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached the east, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time...

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard a soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch. 'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to base.'

His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill. 'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in Iraq ; it's almost like you are doing it for him.'

Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked, 'Which do you like best - beef or chicken?' 'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked. She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class.

'This is your thanks..'

After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room. A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars.

Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming down the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked, I hoped he was not looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane. When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand and said, 'I want to shake your hand.' Quickly unfastening my seatbelt I stood and took the Captain's hand. With a booming voice he said, 'I was a soldier and I was a military pilot. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all of the passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs. A man who was seated about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed I gathered my belongings and started to deplane. Waiting just inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to the base. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to reach the base.. It will be about time for a sandwich. God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow travelers.

As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return. These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals. It seemed so little...

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

Prayer:

'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.'

Prayer Request: When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our troops around the world. Of all the gifts you could give a Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.

Wednesday Challenge!

I know that Danelle has talked some in the past about our Attic Wednesday Sketch Challenge that we have been doing on Facebook since March....it's NOT JUST FOR FACEBOOK followers!!! YOU can join in too!!! Here is the long and short of it all!!!

* Each Wednesday morning (and sometimes it MIIIGGHHHT be the afternoon!!, lets be honest!) We post a SKETCH challenge on our Facebook Fan Page!! Sometimes this sketch is a one pagER, sometimes a DOUBLE pagEr.....however - you can make it your own!!! We put NO RULES into our challenges!! SERIOUSLY!! (welllll, we do say that you need to have it posted or submitted by midnight the following tuesday!) If you aren't sure how to post to our facebook wall or how to upload a photo of your layout - NO BIGGIE!! Just email it to me - scrapfunattic@cox.net and I'lllll take care of it for ya!!! :)

I post the sketch - you do the rest!! Be creative....be inspirING...BE inspirED.....just DO it!! Some of the layouts look JUST like the sketch....others look NOTHING like the sketch!! That's JUST what a SKETCH is ALL about !!! Use the sketch HOWEVER you would like to use it - as a place to START....something to INSPIRE you to begin a layout and start scrappin'!! OR...if you're in a rut.... "just can't get your mojo goin", use the sketch to replicate your own layout!!! NO JUDGIN' goin on over here at the attic!! NONE!!

I also like to post a TITLE, QUOTE, INSPIRATIONAL POEM...something ELSE that might help to jump start you!! Sometimes a QUOTE or a WORD is alllll i need to get to scrappin' away!! So USE IT!! Incorporate it into your layout, or not!! It's up to you!!!

This is a GREAT way for you to be guaranteed some "homework" each week....a way for you to be GUARANTEED some scrappin' time just FOR you!!! We've been doing these challenges for 15 weeks now and i've got a few ladies (big ol' hug goin' out to them!) who have done them EVERY SINGLE WEEK!! That's at LEAST 15 additional pages in their albums that they wouldn't have had otherwise! :) : ) :)

After the weekly challenge, i then have an album on our facebook page with all the layouts that were submitted (either by email, posted on our facebook wall or brought into the store!).....i put them all in there with each sketch!! This way - you can look back and see allll the different ways each talented scrapbooker USED the sketch for their own layouts!! COOL HUH!!! THEN (and this is the best part).....i draw a winner each week at random!!! TRUE story!! Sometimes more than ONE winner!!! And lemme just say (if i just do!)....there are some great prizes bein' given away!!! ANNNND you CAN win more than ONE time!! Just ask Kayla!! ; ) ***the winners are drawn at random - BY NUMBER.....there is NO judging on creativity, design, or talent!! STRICTLY a random number (usually by one of my beautiful blonde haired lil guys!) ANNNND...you don't HAVE to live here...you can live far far away (with Shrek and Fiona!...sorry I've had two cups of coffee already this morning!!)....we'll mail you your goodies!!! :)

SOOOO no excuses!!! I will say, that i DO know there are lots of you out there that JUST DON'T have the TIME to scrapbook right now, without going to an organized crop!! Soooo, print the sketches out, shove them into your scrappin' tote and save them for later!!!

WOW!! what a GREAT Anniversary CELEBRATION weekend we had!!! It was SOOOO great to see SO MANY great faces and friends!! And to even make some new ones!! It was awesome to meet so many of "The Angel Company" gals, that were (coincidentally!!) in town for a convention! I SOOOOOOOOOOO wish i had some great photos to share with you from this past weekend, but unfortunately, i do not :( ....... (feel like i'm beatin' a dead horse here, but my phone was stolen a few weeks ago, so i have no phone, which i used RELIGIOUSLY as my camera - ESPECIALLY to keep all of you updated!! ANNNND my camera card for my Canon Rebel has a "virus", so i have had NO way to take photos.....and it's been VERY frustrating!!!)....sooooo, if you happened to be here this weekend and got ANY pictures, i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a copy!! Just email them to me! :) scrapfunattic@cox.net!!

Anyway - that being said, i have gone back and taken a few pictures with "mom's" camera after the celebration was over......so, this will give you a little bit of eye candy from our weekend!!!

THESE were the WONDERMOUS P*I*N*K (goin' green) bags that we gave out with each $50.00 purchase!! They were filled with some wonderful "attic" goodness too! Sooo, i hope if you came out this weekend and picked yourself up one of these little gems that you've OPENED your bag and ooogggled over the goodness hiding in there!!

and NO worries, for those of you that have ALREADY expressed your sadness and disappointment that you couldn't make it out to celebrate with us and pick up some attic goodness.....you'll have more chances to get your hot little hands on these in the near future, no worries! :)

A HUGE thank you to all of you for your well wishes, your friendship (even just for stoppin' by and givin us your support, a smile, a hug, a card...etc!!!), and for the gifts and the goodies!! We are SO truly blessed and THANKFUL for you...more than you will ever know!!!

Wanted to share this ADORABLE little card we got from a special "someone"!! Thank you Sharon, we can't WAIT for CAG either!!

Now, before i post these next pictures.....ANGELA - you are NOT allowed to post ANYTHING on here that is NOTHING but POSITIVE-ness!!! NO if's and's or but's!! :) SERIOUSLY - love it and except the compliments!!!.....

We've grown pretty attached to our friend Angela Lentz!! She's now teaching our Copic Classes (and yes, you read that right...classeSSSSSSSSS...but more on THAT later!)....she's a Tim Holtz LOVER (more than the average stalker is!)...SO not callin' her a stalker! ;) But, we've spent loads of time with her, and you'll get to know more and more about her over the next few months....but she made us this amazing Photo Tray!! It brings tears to my eyes when i look at it!! All the hard work that she put into this is outstanding!! AND....EVERYTHING that she used to create this (minus the tray!!)...is Tim Holtz product!!! Isn't that awesome!! EVEN THE CRACKLE PAINT!!! You have to take a look at this the next time you're in the store - it's AWESOME!!!

i just LOVE his WHITE and SHINY smile! :)

And, just for the record - cuz i know if i don't say this - she WILL....she's wanting a picture of the front of our OLD store (sounds weird saying that, ya know!) to put with the picture of the NEW store in the top right spot....just so ya know!! **happy ang?!?! ;0
